We started the year with a bang at the Australia & Waitangi Day Celebration at the New Zealand Embassy Residence. It was a fantastic opportunity to catch up over drinks, delicious Antipodean fare and no less than four pavlovas!
Great fun was had by all who attended our recent floral arrangement workshop in Amsterdam. It was a creative and beautiful way to farewell Winter and usher in Spring.
In April, we enjoyed great cuisine and classical music with delicious tapas and a Tchaikovsky concert in Amsterdam.
A moving ANZAC Day service hosted by the New Zealand Embassy at the Westduin Cemetery in the Hague, on 25 April 2023.
We continue our monthly Craft Club, with a focus on knitting for the homeless. Our recent project was to knit poppies for our ANZAC Day wreath.

Matariki (Maori New Year) celebrated in Leiden on 24 June 2023 at the Volkenkunde Museum. Haka Workshops, Wood Carving, Practicing for the Waka, and of course, the BBQ. Beautiful summer weather to accompany the afternoon!

November Coffee, Cake and Culture – we attended the book launch of Through Darkest Seas by Graeme Cocks, an account of the reconstruction of the Dutch ship the Duyfken. The author Graeme Cocks gave a detailed presentation, at times emotional, when he spoke of the people involved, in particular, those who did not live to see the final result. The event was held at the Scheepvaartmuseum (Maritime Museum) in Amsterdam. Graeme Cocks presented a copy to the Director of the Scheepvaartmuseum in Amsterdam.
December Coffee, Cake and Culture – we met for a lovely lunch at the Kunstmuseum in Den Haag and visited the fascinating exhibition of “Royals & Rebels – British Fashion” in honour of Vivienne Westwood.
We rounded out the year with another magical Christmas party at the Australian Embassy Residence. A marvellous evening of great company, drinks, food and music. Until next year!
